So I am over the moon in love with this sweet baby girl- we’ve been calling her Chicken.

Last week while at the QT this little girlie approached me and then after verifying the owner was nowhere to be seen she jumped right into the car and came home.

We’ve been taking care of her and she’s definitely not best friends with my girlie Edina so unfortunately we can’t keep her.

But she is totally in love with me and basically my shadow, she’s always at my feet when she’s inside. And I just have this amazing connection with her.

She has an underbite and the little tip of her tounge sticks out.

And she has mismatched black and clear nails, so amazingly cute.

And the tiny little bit on her tail that is white.

I can’t wait to find her an amazing forever home (we’ve been looking and trying…) but it’s going to break my heart to get rid of her.

I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!
Even though I really didn’t have the money, when I found a killer deal on a used Canon 30D and I couldn’t pass it up!
Now I have a better camera, and can use my XTi as a backup.
I’ve already shot 3 sets on this beaut and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
I won’t ever stop loving my XTi, but for now my 30D is the new baby!

Some thoughts on being a super dippy hippy

I’ve always been a bit of a hippy. I love nature, I sorta believe in UFOs and I don’t eat meat.I think we could all just get along, I listen to NPR and don’t buy paper napkins.

But I’ve realized recently that there’s this term “hippy” that I use loosely. A lot of people use it really, I think often it’s used to make fun of someone who genuinely is a good person, and it gets used as a defensive mechanism, call someone a hippy and avoid looking at what you might be doing wrong. I think it’s sort of a product of the “war on drugs” and the stereotype of a hippy being someone who just smokes pot and doesn’t really do much of anything, but that’s not the case. Because someone is open-minded or thinking recycling is super important, doesn’t mean that they are this awful stereotype the government/the man/whoever has made up to scare us from being those things that are good and smart and really make sense for the world.

I know I’m sort of on a soapbox here and that maybe some people don’t get what I am trying to say, but I really just wish this term or idea of  “hippy” wouldn’t prohibit people from being more open minded and aware for fear or being labeled in a negative way.

Annie and Aaron Wedding

I was so thrilled to take photos of Aaron and Annie’s wedding! I’ve known Aaron for a long time and am so happy for both him and Annie, they are so totally in love and it’s adorable!

Links I Love!

The final Fred Perry Amy Winehouse collection is so rad, I want it all. It’s unfortunate she isn’t still around to continue designing awesome clothing.

Oh my lord- so many fucking pretty dresses!

These photos of dogs underwater are totally killer!

Awesome post by Danielle Hampton on Hello Giggles…her writing is so rad!

VH1 put out a list of the 100 greatest women in music- and I was so stoked to see Gwen Stefani, Adele and Regina Spektor! Though I think I would have a lot of different ladies on my list…

How cool is the Jam Labelizer- I want to make jam just so I can make cute labels!

Awesome packaging, I love cool packaging, it makes a product more fun.

Lots of awesome Google Map photos!

Book Review- Dharma Punx

I loved this book so much! I finished it a few days ago and I totally was stoked on it! It was very inspiring and really well written. I highly recommend it to anyone and I really love the message that it contains. It’s gotten me even more interested in meditating regularly and in Buddhism.

The author Noah Levine has a great story and amazing style of writing, it’s very honest and true, I really appreciate it. He grew up listening to punk music and being angry at the world and it grew into him learning to meditate and then eventually start teaching.

I am looking forward to seeing this documentary and also reading his other book Against the Stream. There also is a Dharma Punx group at a meditation center not too far from my house, I am going to check it out next week and I think it will be really good for me.

The Slackers

So last night I went to see one of my all time favorite bands, the Slackers. I can remember the first time I heard them, I use to have my irish step dancing rehearsals in the back room of a record store called Monkey Mambo, up by Metrocenter Mall. I was planning to go see Flogging Molly and I had seen on the flyer that The Slackers were playing as well, so I went in the store during a rehearsal and bought “Live at Ernestos” I sat and listened to it instead of my dance music in my headphones and got reprimanded by the instructor for not practicing. Starting then I’ve rarely missed them play when they’ve been in Phoenix and their shows have been some of the best I’ve been to.

The kind where you wake up with lots of eyeliner packed on and smeared, hair a mess, smelling like cigarettes and with your lungs so sore from dancing and blisters on your feet from dancing in heels. The whole next day the lyrics keep streaming through your head and you get a whole renewed feeling of utter love and happiness from their music again, just like the first time. Unfortunately, last night was not like that, at all.

Perhaps I’m getting old, but kids these days- yuck. I was getting pushed around, had no room to dance and the crowd just sucked hard. I was in strange mood when I got there and after almost not being let back in after going to my car to put my purse away, I was just irritated. I was really anxious and just feeling kind of sad but I got to dance for a bit, then enjoyed the last few songs sitting in the back. It’s so great to see some people I rarely see and everyone looking so dapper, except of course the ugly gross dudes in the leather jackets who smelt like rotten lunch meat.

After last night I am going to have an even harder time getting myself to go to shows, I get tired and anxious and the crowd irritates me and I get way sweaty. I still love seeing bands live, but sometimes it’s truly not worth the hassle. All in all, seeing all the rad people there was worth it, but I am just getting too old I believe.

Closet redo!

I decided that I needed to wear more of my shoes, I had them all in this big trunk so some pairs wouldn’t get seen for months at a time.

I decided to move a shelf that was in the garage into the closet and put my shoes all out in the open!

I love how something so simple can make everything seem a lot neater and more organized, it’s like a whole different closet!
